Recently the Michael & Sons Cares director went before the Transportation Land Use Committee (TLUC) to obtain permit waivers for the Ryan Diviney Project. The board voted unanimously to waive all fees associated with the Diviney project. A little background on the Diviney project; Ryan Diviney, a 20 year old former WVU student, was brutally assaulted in an unprovoked attack following a verbal exchange with two other young men. The attack left Ryan in a coma from which he will never recover. The story gained national attention and also the attention of Basim Mansour, CEO and owner of Michael & Son Services. “When I heard the story I was shocked by the callousness of the attack, I wanted to help right away” said Mansour. The Michael & Son Cares program sprung into action and met with the Diviney family to come up with a plan. The work will include a bedroom for Ryan, an ADA compliant bathroom and physical therapy room. Michael & Son has also reached out to its vendors as well as local businesses to provide materials while Michael & Son will provide labor and planning. The “Michael & Son Cares” program was established in October 2010 to assist families with essential home repairs they otherwise could not afford. Make sure to check back with us for more updates on the Diviney project and other upcoming events.
